We have been pretty quiet on the news front lately, and a few updates have slipped out via the auto updaters so I thought as it’s the beginning of the month I’d do a short post on the current builds. To check your builds go to Help – About when starting Auctionitis.

Sella.co.nz & Trade Me categories now match

Hello to all Auctionitis users currently listing items on sella.co.nz – New Zealand’s Free Auction website

As many of your are aware, at sella.co.nz we have been engaging in a rather large process of mapping all Trade Me Categories to Sella Categories. I am happy to report that as of this morning we are 99% complete on this job. We have to create a few new categories to be 100% up to date but all mappings are now complete we hope.

What this means for you all is that the next time you load items to sella you should be able to load your whole Trade Me product range. There may be the odd example where this is not possible ( due to the few extra categories we now need to create ) but for the most part this should be seamless.

So I encourage you to all jump back on line when you can and have another go at uploading your full range to sella. If the odd product is not loading let me know and I will make sure these specific mappings are complete.

Auctionitis 3.0 Build 1486 Available 7/5/2009 – Other News & Windows 7

Hello There are a few new updates out -

Auctionitis

We have just issued a new build (1486).  Please update via the Automatic Updater or go to Utilities – Check for Program Updates.  Once you have upgraded please go to Help – About and check you are on build 1486 or higher. In this build:

• Miscellaneous fixes and enhancements to the photo process and Sella Category Messaging System

TradeMe Category Updates:

The current Category Service Date is 01/05/2009. Please update via the Silent Updater or go to Utilities – Update Categories.  Once you have upgraded please go to Help – About and check you are on Category Service Date  01/05/2009.

Tradar

There is a new build of Tradar we will be installing over the weekend on customers whose Tradar we manage, and the details of the build will be emailed and posted on the Tradar Forum to all existing users.

Other News

Not much else to report – Evan’s doing some maintenance work on Auctionitis and building in a couple of new sites to list on.  I’m redesigning the website support and user guide sections to make it easier for everyone to find what they are looking for as well as dealing with the usual day to day enquiries.

Windows 7

If you have not had a look at Windows 7, or have been suffering miserably with Vista I’d certainly suggest that those of you with the knowledge or interest in having a look at it do so.  It’s FREE for the first year of usage.  I’ve replaced Vista Business on my laptop with Windows 7 and everything runs like a dream – no dramas, no intrusive ‘controls’ and settings.  Quite simply it does what you want, when you want.  The even better news I can report is that thus far it’s run Auctionitis perfectly.  This is without downloading and installing their XP Compatibility stuff, but I’ll certainly be giving that a go also.

Auctionitis 3.0 Build 1484 Released

Hi!

We’ve made a few changes over the last few days to improve the interaction with Sella.co.nz in the categories area.  Please check for updates when you next use Auctionitis and update to be on build 1484 or higher.  Even if you have updated in the last few weeks, this release was issued a few days ago – you can check if you are on it by clicking Help – About and comparing your build number to 1484 or higher.

The current Category Service Date is also 30-03-2009.

Listing Multiple Items on Sella with Auctionitis

Auctionitis is fully integrated with the Sella API which means in simple terms, all the data sent from Auctionitis to Sella goes through a clearly defined set of ‘rules and procedures’. The benefit of this is that when changes are made on the Sella website, we know about them and can prepare any changes for Auctionitis promptly and with ease. As the API has been developed over the last few months, we held off rushing ahead and creating a sella set up before the API was ready to save both Auctionitis and our users (and Sella) sometime with problems that can occur when data doesn’t go through an API.

What’s the point of this lengthy explanation I hear you ask?

Sella made changes to their API today to allow up to three multiple identical articles to be loaded on their website any one time. This works on the same theory as TradeMe’s 10 concurrent idential listings rule, and Zillions 5 concurrent identical listings rule. Previously if loading more than one identical item they would be ‘rejected’ by Sella. This listing limit has now been increased to 3 concurrent identical listings on Sella. This is a good number to enable a growing site to show a variety of products without being cluttered by 10 of the same item over and over again. On larger sites like TradeMe this isn’t as readily apparent with so many listings, and as Sella listing volumes grow this will be relaxed further.

When you make a sale on Sella it’s quick and easy with Auctionitis to load another product up from a Sella Template in Auctionitis without any hassle.

Sella Categories

There are still a few categories to be ironed out and this is underway at present. So if you are still waiting for the right categories to be added, this is happening over the next couple of weeks, and once completed we can wave ‘goodbye forever’ to non-equivalent category issues.

Where are you Online

A while ago I wrote a small post on expanding your online presence. It’s still as relevant today as it was then. When listing multiple identical items here’s a few tips to consider to make the listings appear more diverse:

• Titles: Consider changing the auctions titles and experiment with a few different titles and see what works the best. 
• Photos: Swap photos. Got more than one photo for the item? Use a different one as the main picture in each listing.
• Categories: Find relevant multiple categories to list your product in.  
• Adapt:  Create a relevant  title to appeal to people who may be searching in that particular category.  More information is here.

Auctionitis 3.0 – Listing on Sella – Latest Improvements

There has been a lot of interest from our users (and many new users – Welcome!!) regarding getting onto www.sella.co.nz to list via Auctionitis.  A couple of weeks ago we launched Auctionitis 3.0 with Sella integration and since then Sella have made several changes and improvements to make using Sella and listing with Auctionitis even easier.  For those you that have been patiently waiting here they are:

Sella Store Accounts and Personal Accounts

A lot of users were struggling with switching between user and store accounts. So sella stores no longer have to choose, just log into your sella account and you will automatically be logged in as your store.  This means that any listing to Sella via Auctionitis will now automatically go to your Store account! You do not need to change any settings in Auctionitis.  And remember, if you haven’t already now is the time for Auctionitis users to get in touch with Sella about your FREE Web Store.

New Selling Categories

Sella have completely updated their categories with over 800 new options for all users to select from.  This will mean that cross matching categories from Auctionitis to Sella will be a seamless experience going forward!

Standard Payment and Shipping Instructions

Use standard payment and shipping instructions to simplify the creation of listings and to speed up the sales process. Something very cool I discovered here, is not only will Sella automatically mail out your payment instructions (fully customisable, of course) but there is even a template to enter your shipping information in and your buyers will be automatically notified on your behalf by Sella when goods ship!

Auctionitis Feedback

We’ve had a lot of feedback from users telling us how easy it is to get their products onto Sella, and asking for new features and improvements to bring the wide range of options that we have for Trade Me listing into the Sella space such as clones, cycles, advanced filtering etc.  We’ll be bringing these in with each new update!

Auctionitis Category Update 11/3/09

Hello!

I hope you are all settling into Auctionitis Verison 3.0 smoothly.   We’ve been really pleased with the interest shown in Sella with new auctions being listed daily, so if you haven’t already contacted Sella or us about getting your Free web store  there’s still plenty of time do to it!

We’ve issued a new category update today – so the current category update is 11-03-09.  The main changes are in:
