23 June – Reserve fee to apply in general categories
A 25c reserve fee will apply to auctions where you choose a reserve price that is higher than the start price, effective from 1 July 2008.
This change is designed to offer a better buying experience by encouraging sellers to be transparent about reserve prices. As a result, buyers will know that any bid has the chance to be successful.
No fee applies when you keep the reserve price equal to the start price, or when listing a car or other vehicle.
See http://www.trademe.co.nz/Community/SiteAnnouncements.aspx for further details.
How this affects Auctionitis Users:
We suspected that this may be the case a while ago so in the last upgrade to Auctionitis we changed the start/reserve price entry mechanism – when you enter a start price, the reserve price is automatically calculated as the start price – this will save you incurring a reserve fee, and save data entry (just two of the ways Auctionitis saves you time and money!).
If you have previously been using start is less than reserve prices and wish to easily adjust your pricing you can use the Tools – Set Selected Prices to update prices in groups!
If you choose to not have start price = reserve price you will incur a TradeMe listing fee of 25 cents per auction from 1 July – so you’ve got a week to get sorted!
Thats Auctionitis – one step ahead all the time
